金曜予選後
FP1を終えてサーキットに慣れ始めたところでしたが、トラフィックに引っかかり、一度も完璧なラップにまとめきれませんでした。予選前のフリー走行が1セッションしかないので、厳しい戦いになるとは思っていました。Q1での敗退は残念ですが、かなりの僅差でしたし、最後のアタックでは再びトラフィックに遭ってしまいました。明日は16番手スタートなので厳しいとは思いますが、スプリント予選では全力を尽くして戦います。
After FP1 I’d started to get used to the circuit, but I had a lot of traffic and never managed to put together a perfect lap. So, going into Qualifying after just one session was always going to be difficult. It’s a shame to be out in Q1 today, but the field was really tight at the end and I struggled again with traffic on my final push lap. Starting tomorrow from P16 I think will be difficult, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got during Sprint Qualifying and we’ll see what I can do.
スプリント予選後
今日のパフォーマンスにはがっかりしています。満足いくポジションでフィニッシュできず、明日も同じグリッドからスタートすることになりました。予選前のフリー走行が1回という今週末のフォーマットは、ルーキーにとって非常に厳しいのですが、ファンの皆さんが楽しんでくれていればと思います。レースウイークを通じてマシンパフォーマンスで悩んでいるので、今夜もデータを見直し、明日のレースに向けて理解を深めていきます。
I’m obviously disappointed with today’s performance, I’m not finishing in a position that I’m happy with and I’m then starting the race tomorrow from the same place. I feel that this weekend’s format is quite difficult for rookies, as you only have one free practice session before Qualifying, which is tough, but I hope the spectators enjoyed this new schedule. We’ve struggled with the performance of the car this whole weekend, so we just need to go away tonight and review the data so we can learn more for tomorrow’s race.
決勝後
今日はポイント獲得を果たせてとてもうれしいです。プランに忠実にレースを進めようと、タイヤマネージメントに集中しましたが、うまくやれたと思います。レースウイークを通じて苦戦していましたし、新フォーマットによって僕のようなルーキーには厳しさが増したと思います。そうした中でもチームにとって重要なポイントを持ち帰ることができて、満足しています。
I’m quite happy to have come away with a point today. I tried to stick to the plan, really focus on tyre management, and I think I achieved that well. I’ve struggled a bit throughout the weekend and the different format has made things slightly more difficult for me as a rookie, so I’m pleased to have come away with an all-important point for the team.
